A Life in Balance #4 (Unbalanced and Hopeful)

All week we have talked about what our crazy and unbalanced lives look like.  When we come back next week we will see the struggle of keeping the 1st commandment is one shared by all humanity.  Before we go on to the weekend I want to be sue we know who this God is.  I want us to be reminded that no matter how many times we fall into the traps of going to our idols for confidence, well being, or righteousness God is still our God.

We can be sure that he is our God because it has so much more to do with all that he has done, all he is doing, and all that he will do for us.  He is going to use whatever life throws at us to draw us closer to Him.

The faith we have is a gift from God.  He is the one who started our faith.  He is the one who nourishes our faith.  He is the one who sustains our faith.  We can rest in this gift he has given us.  We can rest in it because it is not something we created, sustain, or nourish.  We can rest in it because HE has done it for us.  When we fall flat on our faces because we were putting all of our trust and confidence in things much smaller than Jesus he is still with us.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.  Hebrews 12:1-2
