Loved In Spite of Self

A mama who is loved by Jesus, her hubby, and her kids in spite of herself. My hope is that everything I share encourages, points you to Jesus, and illuminates the big love he has for you not because of who you are or what you have done but because of who He is and what He has done.

Girl, When you wash your face, Remember your Baptism

October 31, 2018 / lovedinspiteofself / Leave a comment

Most mornings and some evenings I wash my face.  It's not necessarily some beauty routine but it at least gets the gunk out of my eyes and removes anything drool that has collected from the pool on my pillow. Most evenings I wash my face.  It removes what I may have on my face from … Continue reading Girl, When you wash your face, Remember your Baptism

If I Could

Church

Church is weird. Church can be awkward. Church can be awful. People in the church can make it feel like you should be there.  People can make it feel like you shouldn't be there. Church might appear like a bunch of saints... Way back when.  I have no idea when if I did I would … Continue reading Church

Today on my Facebook memories this popped up: 10 years ago my last name was not Koplin, I hadn't met that hunky guy next to me in the profile picture.  I was excited to spend the weekend in southern MN with friends. Little did I know that this day would change my life.  In a … Continue reading Oktoberfest

Becoming Dust

October 1, 2018 / lovedinspiteofself / Leave a comment

I have a fairly decent sized stack of books that I want to write about.  The problem comes when I try to narrow down what to say about these books I have, learned from, understood more broadly because of, and gleaned knowledge from. Know when you are reading this post there is so much more … Continue reading Becoming Dust
